A couple fun to take product shots using some honeycomb spot grids and TT5 Pocket Wizards

Just messing around a little yesterday with a 1/8" Harbor Digital honeycomb 1/8" spot grid. I have to say these spots grids are a fun tool to have. The first shot I had the SB900 with just a blue gel on it, and I wanted to introduce some red so I mounted a Harbor Digital 1/8" spot grid onto my SB800 for a nice narrow controlled amount of red.

SB800 shooting in TTL mode w/red gel and 1/8" spot grid

SB900 shooting 1/8 power manual mode w/blue gel PocketWizard TT5's with both flashes
ExpoDisc Neutral was used to dial in my white balance.

D700 and 105mm lens:

Grand Marnier w/ SB 800 TTL with 1/8" honeycomb spot with blue gel and key light was a SB900 shooting in manual mode. With the SB900 I wanted to control the light even further so I rolled up a Rogue Flashbender into a snoot and I was apple to control the light so that the front edge of the bottle was receiving light. Speaking of fun tools to have, these Flashbenders come in so handy!

Cool. You could do some awsome model work with those.

Make that a field trip to the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Always good for some great shots (both kinds).

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
