I kinda don't like the edit. Looks fake.

Not much can be done to make up for the fact that it was taken with a 3MP camera that was all that I had at the time as far as digital was concerned.

You can play with layers and masks a bit to improve it. Still, you're right not much you can do.

Here's my attempt (and the layers are shown in the screen grab):

Your edit (I like the dark contrast you got in the foreground, I didn't boost the contrast so much though, of course that's my taste ;) ).

Here's the original:

I guess it's an improvement. I didn't clone that black blob out from the side, that you can do rob ;)

If I had more time I'd adjust the sky mountains and foreground individually and blend them together (Ansel Adams style). I still think I could make the sky pop more. Bit more contrast up there would be good.

Not saying actually mine is better or worse than yours Rob, just showing what I might have done. :) YMMV etc.

Thanks for showing me what can be done .Picasa is limited on editing as there are no layering functions or masks. I'm rather limited on post processing options

Oversharpened and you lost detail from blowing out highlights.

Also induced a lot of noise.

It'd be good to start your own thread so you don't hijack his ;)

Much improved Rob,it`s good to know the software you are using. It`s pointless we giving you advice for photoshop when you don`t have the processing power.
Have a lots of film for scanning too but throw away my scanner..too much work!
Guess I`ll enjoy your beautiful images!!

Better up top, but the fore-elements are a touch dark.

Pity Picassa doesn't do layers man.
