Ventura Beach

Some photos from a recent trip to Laguna Beach. C&C welcomed! They should probably all be cropped since I failed at the rule of thirds on all of them... But any feedback is appreciated.

Kind of over-edited this one, interested in hearing your opinions.

I like 2 and 3, Great scenery meyer7.
No 1 I just keep it as a memory, but try to turn it into a B&W shot.

Nice shots they make me want to go to the coast. It has been way to long since I have been to the coast, I always go up the mountain when I have time for a day trip, Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite destinations.

I've gotta get back to Laguna Beach one of these days! The Rule of Thirds is overrated, don't sweat it. As for #1 (top one) I would either crop off some of the bottom, OR treat that stony area to some Equalization / HDR / Auto Lighting / whatever to bring up the tones. They are too dark as is.

#2 is fun, my fav of these. Could use more contrast.

#3 looks like a cloud got in the way of your light. Can't win them all.

Here's a better edit on #1. I'll probably do a B&W version too, I think that might have more chance of coming out OK.

I like 1 and 2. Keep working the edits. I like that you're trying to bring more fill into your edit but you're losing saturation.

Thanks Scotty, I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep working on it so I needed a little push to do it.

My last efforts (I think)...

Two for that. If you constantly think "Rule of Thirds... Rule of Thirds..." when you shoot, you may not see some other good opportunities.

I like the one of the cairns. I wish it was composed so we could see the wave crashing in in the background, but it's good the way it is.

That would have been cool. The waves were kind of lame that day though. Right when I pulled up to start shooting, a bunch of disappointed surfers were on their way out...
