Niles Canyon part deux

I pass by this place everyday on my way to work. I finally stopped to shoot it. I parked my minivan at a spot that wasn't riddled with no parking signs, about 1/2 mile away. I walked with excitement, knowing that I've developed a little more skill than the last time I was there and thinking I would come away with something great this time. I get to the spot, lift the camera, press the button, and what do I see in my viewfinder? "No Card"

I kept my cool, made the trek back to the van intent on shooting what I came to shoot. While I know they're not perfect, they are products of a thought process; something I lacked with respect to photography, just months ago. As always, CC welcomed!
Thank you!

Good to see your "eye" improving. The first one needs more of the bridge (not also possible unless you have a wider angle lens or can "zoom with your feet"). The second is tough due to the lighting conditions (perfect use for a Graduated Neutral Density filter or HDR techniques). Number 3 is well done - interesting subject.
You are on your way.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thanks for the feedback. Baydream, you are correct on all counts. The issues you pointed out were noticed right away when I opened the photos. #2 pretty much maxed out my know how, due to the various lighting and the sky. Everything I tried either made the photo underexposed, or the sky completely blown out. Out out of curiosty, how would the filter you mentioned help me in this situation?
Where I was pirched there was not a lot of options for me to get closer or move over. Any more to right would have landed me in 4 feet of water. I had to crop tight like that because of the sky issue I was having. And because the place was sort of off the beaten path, I wanted to make sure a blown out sky didn't ruin the entire set of shots for me. But I agree, I wish more of the bridge was in the photo.
Thanks again! :)

I think John's comments are pretty perceptive. I might try a vertical shot for the first one, then you could get more bridge and sky and not so much of the branches (since you couldn't move your vantage point any closer). The third one has potential, I like how it shows the sluice of water, I'd think maybe trying different compositions and varying vantage points - sometimes just a step or two and you've got an entirely different photo.

Truth be told, I absolutely love how the branches' came out. But it wasn't what I was going for. Thanks again for the advice!
