where the reflection ends

i always find it interesting when photographing water to see where the reflection ends and you'r able to see into the water instead.
this is a shoot i took a week or so ago just before/after a big storm. (in the 20 minutes it wasn't pouring rain)
c&c please! i like the transition of reflection to murky water, though i can't decide if the hint of green grass the left corner is distracting or a nice addition.

I think it's a very nice addition. It's a nice creative photo. :)

What ND did you use and how long of an exposure?

For me that grassy bit in the corner makes the shot. I'd be tempted to play with the color channels a little. Impressive shot.

Well done. Your instincts are solid - the reflection is an important component of the composition. The reflection has a certain softness to it. I'm wondering if this is due to some cloudiness or more likely because of a long shutter time. :judge: :judge: :judge:

thanks guys, yes, it would be cool to go back and find a spot that maybe had a bit more grass and colour under the water, that might give the image a little more impact

That is very nice. I might play with a polarizing filter to see what effect it has on that foreground (and straighten the horizon :P so the water doesn't all run out).

This inspired me. I need to take some longer exposures here on the Bay of Fundy when we have "blue" and "reddish-brown" water from the sky colour. Thanks.

Love all of your work! I like the grass here...it confirms the murkiness of the water, for one thing, and gives the eye a sense of the frame's edge. ( My eyes must be tilted, cause I don't notice a tilt in the horizon? )

What you are is so loud, I can't hear a word you say!

The tilt must be ah illusion. I rechecked with a straighten tool and it is spot on. It's mu eyes that are tilted. :S
