New York Cityscape

I took this out of the window of my hotel room in NYC. I'd flown to NYC from Denver couldn't help but see a certain similarity between the mountains of the West and the architecture of The City.

Interesting shot... I can see what you are talking about but would have loved to see more detail in the lower portion of the photo.

I know what you mean, Joiemagic...For me, the shadowing at the bottom works to give a sense of depth and grandeur.

I sandwiched the original (original...a gold-tone background...original).

You might prefer the unedited original...lots of light and far more clarity in the bottom of the shot.

You are right about the similarity.
A bit more experience in editing and you might be able to combine the two and get the best of both in one photo.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

:agree:

You could bring out the best of both with more practice.

I think you're right....it is a matter of getting some editing skills and practice.

I've been working with this again today. I used the Dodge function to do a little highlighting of some of the details in the bottom, and made the middle layer more transparent. The advantage is that I create a bit more light and detail at the bottom of the photo, but the drawback is that there is some loss of the mountainous characteristic I was going for.

I'm going to do some more experimenting. Thanks for your comments.
