Water wasn't edited. It's that blue.

As always, click for larger view.

Shot info.

NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D800, f/8 @ 14 mm, 1/640, ISO 250.

It was shot on a Nikon 14-24 lens, with no filters attached. Hand held.

Editing was using Highlights in CS 6 to bring more details back into the sky, then made a new layer to put a gradient...black to clear to bring out the sky more. Set that layer to soft light, then adjusted opacity to make it natural.

Saturations weren't bumped much, blacks were pulled back, to give it more punch. Dodged in some of the rocks and top of the trees to bring the exposure more in line.

This is what I typically do when i'm shooting in mid day light, without filters. The 14-24 handles overcast days like a champ though and the D800's dynamic range made it a lot easier to edit.

Sharpening output was a dupe layer set as High Pass, at 2.8 to bring out rock/tree contrast.

Cheers.

Really pretty, I want to go to Banff someday.

Can you even use filters with that lens if you wanted to? I rented it for some Golden Gate Bridge photos and it didn't seem like a filter would be possible.

Yes you can. There's special designed filter sets, i'm going to be picking up the polarizer next (150mm I believe).

Here's the lee SW 150 kit, with my .6 GND on it.
