I like the first one quite a lot. The end result is what counts, filter or photoshop....... ;)

I don't know that they seem to quite match the sky; it doesn't look necessarily like conditions where it might have just rained and the sun came out towards the west and you get a rainbow to the east. And one ends right at the cloud, I don't know about that... although I can't say I noticed right away. it was more after looking at it a bit.

The more you'd use it the more it might get obvious that it's the same rainbow over and over. Something used more for fun I suppose - I don't edit much usually either but sometimes a special effects filter can be fun.

Firstly a big thanks to all who took time to view and comment.

The rainbow filter is actually a circular polariser I was trying out in brightish light before dusk. We were chasing a sunset on Morecambe Bay and my long suffering wife enquired about what was on my lens.

As she enquired the sky darkened very rapidly and rainbows appeared. They were around for almost 25 minutes. It was magical. The horizon was bright to the west and thunder clouds rolled across 3/4 of the rest of the sky. The light was mixed both hard and soft leaving few shadows presumably due to diffusion by the clouds.

Incidentally on the way home our conversation continued about the filter I had used earlier and i told her it was "Rainbow Filter"

Here's a sunset we were trying to improve on, and another rainbow boat.

Regards
Ned
