That is very neat. The light is a little too strange for my taste, but I do love the first one - the exposure is perfect, the different colours look nice and the water has nice tones. The second one has potential, but in my opinion would look better if it had more kick to it (sharper tones/lighter lights and darker darks) and that Cosco barge thing is distracting with that sort of light. In the first one, it works because of the different tones and general lightness of the photo, but in the second one onwards the contrast is more harsh and it looks almost like that cityscape is a silhouette. I think the focus should be on the mountain and the water, instead of the Cosco barge, which is where my eyes are drawn.
And then by comparison to the first two, the third and fourth are looking a little dull.

I'd probably cheat and darken that whole area so it does look more like a silhouette and the mountain and water pop more... but that's just my opinion!

Again, super nice job on the first one though! :judge:

Well here's what engineered the "strange" light:

This very un unusual cloud cover started advancing from Juan de Fuca as I shot the first one. It seemed to extend up from Vashon Island to well over the straight, but only a few hundred feet high. As it expanded and some gaps formed, morfe light would suddenly be available, and the whole scene changed. It quickly came practically overhead (about 45 min) where I was standing, north of the Olympic Sculpture Garden (for those who know Seattle). No direct light was reaching the freighter, but it did wash over MtRainier. The light was being reflected up from the water into the low cloud cover, and the effect on the scene was hard to describe....but, I took pictures..(He,He). I tried to document this unusual situation, not necessarily "correct" what was there.
Thanks everyone for commenting/suggesting!
