I just want to share with you all that I bought this lens for $450.00 and was thinking it would just be a "OK" lens because it's priced pretty inexpensive. So my expectations were modest on this lens. I just got it and will say this is a pretty nice lens for the money. I needed something inexpensive for taking with me in the woods and on camping trips. I didn't want to ruin my Canon brand lenses so I picked up this one.

I'll bet you get some great shots with that. I have basically the same lens from Canon that I bought with my original EOS Rebel film camera so its got some age on it.. Hope to see how the Tamron works out with some posts.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

That lens is rated very high in most reviews. Dyxum gives it a 4.75 out of 5. B&H has it for $499 with a $50 rebate until the end of July. That's a good buy. I believe I'll be getting one to replace my stripped Sigma 70-300.

Sounds like a bargain, will have a look myself, never looked at Tamron before always seem to have veered towards Sigma.

Tamron's SP series (superior performance) is their top of the line series & should compare favorably (optically) to OEM offerings..That's why , when comparing lenses, that you compare comparable lines, not Pro to consumer lines
