Screamin Scott wrote: Good luck find quality AF lenses under that $$ limitation. I shoot Nikon & use a lot of older Pro MF lenses which can be had for less than your budget. I know a lot of Canon shooters that buy other Nikkor, Pentax, etc lenses & mount them on their cameras via adapters. Some disadvantages to doing so, but the cost is kept down...Kinda like buying a used vs a new car, used won't have all of the latest features but is still perfectly functional as long as you get a good sample. Another thing you have to consider is what type of lens are you looking for? Any super wide angle, super telephoto or super fast lens will cost big bucks, no getting off cheaply there. The wider, longer or faster, the higher the price.

A 35mm f/2.0 would be a good high quality lens for $200 or so.

Read the reviews. Your budget is a familiar issue but this could be an option to get you some more "range". Then you could sell the SIgma and recoup some of your money.
Yes, "good" zoom lenses are very pricey so you may have to "settle" for a little less until you can save enough. Last summer, I used a Canon 70-300 non-IS while my IS was in the "hospital" and it performed well also.

The 35 f/2 is a great low light lens but you are correct, you did ask about zooms.Joe Somebody wrote:

Thanks but why would I want the 35mm when I have a 18-55 and 85mm? BTW, I know what a prime lens is, since I have one. Also I mention the focal length area I am interested in as a zoom lens not a prime lens.
