Filters in retail stores.

Are filters sold in retail stores like Best Buy not as good as a filter, compare to ones bought from B&H?

It just depends on who is making them. I don't know what brand Best Buy carries. B&H carries many brands. I would stay away from brands you don't recognize. There are lots of house-brands that are just el-cheapos. Hoya is a reliable brand that usually has a range of prices and models. They probably make the filters that get the Nikon brand.

Unless it is a photographic specialty store, it probably carries lower end filters and has far less variety to choose from. I'd bet that B&H has easily hundreds of times the choices of places like Best Buy (a good retailer but not a specialist in photography). B&H has 1144 POLARIZING filters from 28 different manufacturers (some specialty) but you get the idea.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
