Studio Class • Comparing OCF & Studio Soft Lights

The idea is to give the students basic techniques to properly
conduct tests, any kind of tests. Here, the session was to com-
pare the OCF and the studio versions of a soft light modifier.

This picture is a back-up take of the set up where a static sub-
jet is preferred over a real one for better direct comparison.

The stand is a 30+ yo relic from my Montréal studio. In those days,
I had to get that kind of stuff to handle the Broncs and Speedotrons
flash heads. My modern flash system does not require such monsters
but, as I am, I hardly deny what I once loved.

I still have articulated booms from the same time but this is a jib I got
to work very close to the model — a jib is cool cause I can handle it in
a jiffy without delaying nor disturbing the flow of the shoot.
