Practicing with my new extension tubes on Rhododendrons

12 years 11 months ago #82653 by Baydream
I finally got a chance (the rain stopped) to try out my new extension tubes. Our club went to the Kentville Research Station in Nova Scotia and the flowers were beautiful so I tried out the tubes.

I think I might enjoy this.:P

Yes, it is a lot of work. You have to tripod your shots, continually look through the viewfinder and adjust your focus manually. Plus the stooping over, getting low to the ground, not as easy for me to do as I get older. You had some good shots.

I rarely use a tripod for my macros, especially insects. Now I will use one on flowers that I bring inside to shoot, but more often than not it's handheld for me (most bugs won't sit still long enough, especially when you get close)

The fly was hand-held for exactly the reason you stated.

Lovely shots John. What lens did you use? I've still got my extension tubes on the sideline. Maybe I should go use them tomorrow.

Thank you. Some were on my kit Canon "kit" lens and others on my 50 prime.
