I've never thought there was anything wrong with "close up" shots, and cropping for web use. When shooting "macro" it's easy to get hung up on getting closer, and closer... but there's a lot of good to be said about free space. While a full insect with other elements included might not be as attention grabbing when viewed on-line... when printed in large size for wall hangings, the detail can be amazing.

Like the others, I think these shots are nice... especially the last one of the immature katydid. The bright background and creamy bokeh work really well.
