Watching Over Me....

The Bald Eagle holds a very special place in my heart and you won't understand Why unless I share this with you. Eleven years ago, next month, just a couple of days before I was scheduled to have brain surgery to remove a tumor we were at the Sandy River having a picnic. I was terrified and my family was doing their best to distract me. All of a sudden,a Bald Eagle appeared soaring overhead. I'd never seen a real Bald Eagle before, they hadn't made there comeback to our State yet. As he came closer he finally stopped, hovering right over me. He was still quite aways overhead but close enough to see his eyes. And then he just looked down at me, for the longest time. Time seemed to stand still. At that point in my life I was pretty angry at God so didn't bother praying to him much. So I held onto that image and it gave me the courage to follow through with the surgery. It was very clear to me that an Eagle had been sent to watch over me, to give me strength and courage. And the surgery was a complete success ! This experience will be forever etched in my memory, and for that I am truly grateful !

The Eagle is indeed the noblest of birds. I too have a special place in my heart for them. I'll have to make that spot a little bigger now. Thanks for sharing your experience with this greatest of birds.

Rich & John, thank you both so much for your kind words. Rich, from what I've seen, you've got lots of room in that heart of yours. John, I've thought that all along-even more so now because of all the encounters I've had with them since. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. :)
