Lightning with White Balance Adjustments - Before and After

12 years 8 months ago #134617 by Joiemagic
Took Stealthy Ninja's advice and made some adjustments on two Lightning photos from two weeks ago. White balance was originally set to "Auto" on the camera, but took the liberty of changing the WB on the RAW image to "Tungston." What a difference, especially in the second one... That photo was originally totally blown out by the lightning bolt and flash. While I knew I caught it, when I saw it on camera, I was initally bummed till I got to post processing. I originally adjusted the exposure to bring out the bolt, but now the adjusted WB helps you to see the intensity of the lightning..... WOW, is all I can say...

Great job. White balance changes can indeed change the whole look of an image. :judge:  :woohoo:

Have only been taking Lightning Shots for about a year... Now, of that year... I have only done about 6 or 7 days where we had storms... so, depends how you look at it... I can say a year and would not be lying.... but in reality, it is only a few days... especially being we don't have storms every day, and i don't get the chance with every storm...

And, thanks for the comments....
