The Moon & Jupiter

Taken this evening, January 29, 2012 off my terrace... Couldn't get zoomed in much more than this. Was experimenting with all different exposure times. This was one of the best shots... and the moon is still blown out... couldn't bring out the detail I was able to see... Just in case... Jupiter is small light in the upper left corner.

Camera Model Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1.3
Av( Aperture Value ) 11.0
Metering Mode Evaluative Metering
ISO Speed 800
Lens EF75-300mm f/4-5.6
Focal Length 170.0 mm

I thought about doing the same thing but I want to get a full moon again.

The trick is to be on manual mode like you mentioned
adjust the white balance for daytime bright sun.
You might have to dial down your exposure value (EV)
best to use live view until the moon is no longer over exposed
and then fire away. I included the exif data below if it helps

First thing I noticed was ISO, 800! The moon is very bright so ISO 100 or 200 should solve the problem..... Moon shots can be a lot of fun

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.
