I went to Lowe's today for paint. (I have been painting one room per week in my house) They had some great looking Daffodils today. I bought some to go in my yard. BEFORE they go in the yard....... PHOTO OPPORTUNITY!!! Here are a few. I was "playing" with camera settings, and lighting. Anyway.....

Beautiful flowers, but the white balance is off on all of them.

:S Back to the drawing board! :S

Guess I'll have to shoot them outside until I get all these manual settings figured out all at once.

Bubba - Flowers can be tough to shoot at first. Your images are what I would call "hot" or over exposed. I like to shoot flowers just a little dark and then bring them back (if necessary) in post processing. Depth of field is also important ... pick a single bloom and experiment. I am enjoying watching your progress ... keep going big man!

It takes time to get the technique right, I started photographing flowers during last year, there is an album in my portfolio if you wish to take a look, it took me several months and some good critiques to get to something I liked myself, I take some in studio and outdoors for a variety of backdrops, indoors you must choose the right white balance, in your shots they look overly yellow which means your lighting was probably tungsten, find some lights that will get closer to a daylight look and if you like them warmer as I do then you can adjust that in PP.
Best of luck and always ask for advice.

I seem to be REALLY struggling with the yellow flowers! Other colors come out pretty good. I have tried nearly all the shutter speeds, Tried a couple aperture settings, Tired all the white balance settings. I am really trying to learn these manual settings, but even tried auto settings, with just NO LUCK! HECK, I even tried 1 light, 2 light, 3 light, 4 light....no luck!

It IS NOT going to whip me! I WILL get it!

Just bare with me while I learn, please.
