Osprey are one of my favorite birds. They make excellent subjects. Unfortunaetly they are usually way up in a tree or some other place difficult to photograph. What lens were you using. A telephoto comes in handy for these fellows...
Shooting with a bright sky for a background adds to the difficulty of the shot. Overall you did quite well though.

Chase this was taken with 75mm-300mm lens fully extended but yes they are so high up that it is difficult to really get close enough.
Bob these photos were shot very near the Snake River in South East Idaho. there is a pole that was set up for the nest. The nest has been there for several yrs now.

I have heard there is an Osprey nest on a bridge in a town that is about 40 miles north of me that is at least a hundred yrs old. Not sure if that is accurate but that is the story on it.

It`s quite possible!!!!!! The offspring often take over the nests after the parents pass away!!!!!!!
