Wildlife Photography - Tigers

Well, first of all I just want to say Hi - my name is Judy and I am new to the Nature and Wildlife Photography forum on Photography Talk. I love wildlife photography and never got the opportunity to get a good wildlife photo of a tiger. This weekend, I took a road trip to practice my wildlife photography skills. Here is a photo of a tiger. Let me know what you think. Looking for some feedback, so I can improve my photography skills.

Welocome to the Wildlife / Nature forum Judy ..... Lots of helpful folks around these parts

I like your tiger image .... very sharp. A couple of ideas (just my opinion) since you asked for them.
When photogrpahing captive animals it is difficult to make the image in such a way that the "captive" part is not so obvious. You've done a pretty good job. The orange thing in the background and the edge of the building on the right would be better off out of the image .... but I realize that you have to take what you can get.

I like the vertical element of your image, maybe just a bit wider and the tip of the tiger's tail would have made it.

For what it's worth ... I would take your image if it were mine .... it's not bad and I don't have any tigers in my collection! Looking forward to more of your posts!

:agree:
Bob is one of PT's great wildlife shooters, so if he would be satisfied enough with this to take it as one of his own, you've done well.

Almost all my wildlife shots are captive as well, and I have to agree you did a good job of overcoming the difficulties you have to deal with at zoos and/or animal parks. Only once did I really get lucky with a shot of tigers at a zoo. I had an unobstructed view and they were practically posing for me! I need to find that shot...

Thank you both for your inputs. My biggest challenge I was facing this day was getting a good shot without the wire cage.

Welcome to the group. I really like the shot. I do agree with Bob about trying to get the entire animal in the shot. If I can't crop the pic the way I want then I'll try to go for a close of the head. Looking forward to seeing more or your photos.

Well done. You did a great job controlling DoF so the fence in the back is barely visible. Very well done.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
