I love #5! The silhouettes and beam of light really work for me. :judge:

If I were shooting these caves, I'd consider two different methods. The first thing that came to mind was, these would be a perfect case for HDR. You have so much range to try and capture so I'd probably pull out the tripod and capture it with bracketed exposures. I don't know if you're familiar with that technique -- there's a lot of good info on this site about it though. Search both the forums and the articles and you can learn a lot about it. Also, Scotty, Provo and a few others around here do some exceptional HDR work, so you might be able to get some guidance from them.

The other, more traditional approach would be to use a flash, especially for the shots where you're inside the cave and you can see the light outside. Set your exposure so that the brighter part outside is correctly exposed, which means the inside of the cave will be way to dark. Then, add the flash to light up the cave and you'll have good exposure on everything.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try out HDR the next time. I didn't know what to expect from shooting caves.
I am not too happy with the blown out highlights.

Cool pics, great opportunities!!

It would be neat to try some off camera flashes hidden in areas pointing at the walls in dark areas... :beerbang:

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.
