The first one is only missing the 'catchlights'....beautiful image regardless.#2....Next time try bracketing your shots with the bright sun hitting the bird...start at -.7ec to control the hotspot.Hope you are shooting in Raw.

Thanks Robbie. I'm not sure what bracketing is or what to do with if I knew what it was. I do not shoot in RAW. i tried and I never got a nice shot. They always seemed soft and the colors were always washed out.

Shooting in the sun tends to overexpose the image in centerweight metered shots,bracketing is when you set your camera to take a series of images with different exposures.On your camera body you`ll see a button marked 'BRK'

Both shot's are great #2 is slightly a stronger image in my opinion.

#1 I feel more detail can be extracted from the raw file as well as slight
tweaking to correct the highlights

Either way they are nice shots for sure
