As you already stated it's dark I can see the bronze
but not enough details in this shot I have only seen glossy ibis
a few times but haven't capture a good shot of one I have so so's
laying around somewhere on the drive.

Shooting around water can cause a few challenges... If you know them sometimes you can compensate. Framing has to be horizontal or it becomes a distraction. The water makes a good spirit level and it will betray you if you don't use it. Also water reflects light well. Photos are often very bright if you are metering in a wide mode. Spot metering or adjusting the exposure overall would bring the subject more into the dynamic range of the camera. This is especially true if you are shooting a white sunlit bird and don't want to blow out the details. In this case - metering on the bird might have blown out some of the water details but the bird would emerge from the shadows.

Thank you guys for C&C. I now know where to look for them next time I will take the time to play with exposure and get a great shot.

Best times of day for photographing these birds .... early morning light, late afternoon light (periods that wildlife photographers refer to as the "sweet light") and overcast days .... but not dark dreary days.

I have managed several "keeper" images during these periods. Here's a Glossy image that I was able to find quickly
