Does this work? C&C request on composition

Does the composition work here? Is it interesting or distracting? Any/all shared thoughts are appreciated.

I've done some work on color and sharpening, but comments on any aspect are invited. Click for a larger version hosted from my ZenFolio gallery.

Nice colors. I do find the partial flower on lower right distracting, making it difficult to look at the subject flower. I would also suggest choosing a smaller aperture to ensure the DOF gives good focus on more of the flower.

:agree:

Needs a crop, but I don't mind the DoF the way it is. It's kind of interesting with some of the petals falling out of focus.

In my view the composition depends on the application. I think it would work as a background for a page layout, or as a mural. Otherwise I agree that the distraction detracts.
