First test shots with the new D600

Took the new camera out for a walk around a local botanical garden.

Had my ISO too low on aperture priority, so this one has a bit of motion blur. Looks OK small.


This is known as the Majestic Oak, the largest tree they have in the garden. It made me want a wider lens. ;)

Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD. In my limited experience using it so far, I've been very happy with it. I'd put the IQ at least on par with Canon's mk. I 24-70, maybe in between the mk. I and mk. II.

Oh and on the detail, I used an adjustment brush to add clarity in the center of the flower, and also enhanced it a bit using Topaz and some high pass sharpening.
