Finally bought a 300 2.8. I paired it up with a d600 and I am just getting use to it but love it so far

Very nice. I'm sure you will get a lot out of that combo. Add an extension tube and you have one killer macro set-up. Ronnie Gaubert used to use a 300 with tubes and made some incredible shots. He has passed on now, but he was a wonderful photographer from Louisiana.

That's a fine shot. Take some time and clone out a few of the branches, especially the ones impaling the bird and the over head, and you'll have a wall hanger there!.....;)

  • Thank you all. Expansion tubes or extention tubes?  Yes I will have to clone some of those out. Didn't even notice but now I do. THanks:) Its been so freezing here I just get a shot or two and then I'm done. Can't wait for spring!!

Either a teleconverter or extension tubes.

Extension tubes. I either went brain dead or spell check got me and I didn't notice. The 300 rocks with an extension tube or at least Ronnie could make it rock.
