A headshot of a falcon using my 105mm. I think she's beautiful and decided to share.

Great exposure and focus. A bit more DOF would make it a stunner:thumbsup:

I agree with John about the depth of focus, but Its still a fine photo of a beautiful bird and the eyes are sharp which is the important part. Why no EXIF?.....

Why so serious?

Very nicely executed.

I'll be taking more photographs today, so I'll try some shots at f/5.6 and 8.

That's a PNG, and it looks like the software I'm using to generate it is stripping the EXIF data.  How annoying.

1/320s @ f/3, ISO 100, 105mm. LR and PS to process. I was about 2 feet away from her.

I disagree so freakin' much about the DOF. It's a bird "portrait" and having the shallow DOF makes it special. Otherwise it's just another shot of a bird's head. Meh, boring...

BTW you were pretty darned close for this shot. How'd you get so close? I can see you in the bird's eye.

Okay, thanks. I rather like the way it came out; a tighter aperture wouldn't have given me the background that resulted (even though it's probably more "blur" than "bokeh" per another thread).

This is one of the birds of Wildlife Revealed. I've been sucking up to the owner to get the opportunity to take pictures of hawks, vultures and owls. The owl I've posted pics of before is also one the birds.

I keep getting animals with my reflection in the iris. I'm thinking of starting a series :-)

With reference to birds and DoF, I have had a shot of a barn owl featured on the ViewBug homepage today.

www.viewbug.com/photo/10954491

I posted in the ViewBug area, but thought I would mention it here, since that image is a bit different in style, and probably more in line with what John/et. al. allude to.

I can't speak to the technical aspects of the photo, but I can say this image is fantastic.  There's a story in those eyes....
