Broad-winged Hawk Looking into Northern Flicker Nest
I was photographing an active Northern Flicker nest, and this hawk flew in, trying to nab a young bird poking out - a behavior not known to this species. The opportunistic hawk could not hold on long because it is not adapted to perch like a woodpecker. The hawk flapped its wings while it held on. In this shot it barely kept its wings in the frame.
