Osprey with Perch

3 years 4 months ago #571410 by Paul-Rossi
I was photographing a Pileated Woodpecker on the edge of a forest clearing 3/4 mile from Lake Huron when this Osprey approached and I saw it would cross my shadow line and be at the right distance for a good shot.  I quickly made a few camera adjustments, switching to manual exposure, and expanding the focusing points out to 7.  I was lucky the bird flew straight, and did not veer away.

Make: Canon
Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark II
ISO: 400
Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter speed: 1/3200 sec

I don't think that poor Yellow Perch was too happy about it, but that's a beautiful photo!

Why so serious?

That Perch is wondering about the inflight movie that was playing out!

Great shot!
