SUCH a beautiful animal.  WOW, sounds like such a cliche remark to make too.  But that animal looks great on camera.  What is she hissing at?

My wife just walked by my computer as I'm looking at your photo and said "Nice kitty kitty"

Tours huh?  When you are out, how do you know where to find the animals?  We went on a Alaska tour earlier this year and were supposed to see bears.  Didn't see a single one.  Not even a moose which I was told we would likely see.  The tour company stated these are animals and don't have fixed schedule on where they will be at certain time.  Which I understand, but would have been nice to see something.  Can you usually get your clients in range of where they can photograph some exotic animals?  Speaking of which, are you all in a truck or something?

Kitty indeed! i must admit when they roll over or stretch like domestic cats the thought of tickling their tummy does occur to me but id loose a hand or more lol

Ive been doing tours to the same park for over 30 years so ive got to know the animals and have even been lucky enough to name one leopard a few years back which was an amazing privilege. That been said its not a true science and as with anything nature an educated guess would be the right term to use. My last 9 day 'big cats' tour which just finished last week was better then expected we saw leopards, cheetah and lions every day. I would be happy with just one sighting of a leopard or cheetah so i got a lot of great shots. Having a good guide is essential and ive tried and tested a few plus knowing the terrain, right time of the day and season and sometimes just plain luck all add to it.

Ive got shots of cats filling the frame with lenses from 50mm to 500mm so yes you get close enough but always safely

My preference is the closed sided 4x4 as it protects from weather and offers the window frames as support. Its never an 'all' as I limit each vehicle to 2 photographers so you always have a clear view and multiple heights to shoot from (The industry average is 3) Here are a few vehicle shots

When the animals jump on the truck will they leave the people alone in the truck?

It was a once in a lifetime encounter. Yes, Cheetah are very chill you have to just not panic and not lash out. I was in the truck and am still here :-)
You could never do this with any other big cat, they wouldnt naturally approach the vehicle to start with as cheetah do

WOW!!!  That is awesome.  So how long will they stay there?  Do they tolerate slow moments and the sound of cameras clicking away?

This one always cracks me up, when the cat slips, he behaves a bit like a household cat, look at it's ears go back and how it gets back on top.

It all depends on how man other people are there and what the animals are doing. I prefer encounters with fewer photographers around... no point getting the same shots as others!  so it can be anywhere from 5 minutes to around 20 Ive stayed waiting for a leopard for a few hours though
