That splash of yellow in the back is the magic sauce here.  Brother you have nailed another one.

+1 I was thinking the same thing, choice in aperture and that yellow really pulls everything together here.

I have a question for you bird photographers - how are you finding these birds or is this just lucky timing?

Paris Gal - it's a lot of luck, I have a good friend who is a serious bird photographer.  She is ALWAYS out in the woods.  But as she has put it, many birds will travel back to the same area, so as a photographer if you are patient you have a good idea of where certain birds hang out.  Just have your camera ready and wait.  And wait.  And wait. I went out with her a couple times and it's tough.  So props to the photographer here on a well deserved shot.

Patience. Lots and lots of patience. Find spots in your area where birds tend to visit (yes, they exist, birds will visit the locations mornings and evenings), go there, get comfortable and wait. The smaller the bird the more skittish it will be, so try to use slower hand/arm movements. Also avoid bright coloured clothing, birds pick up on them. Anything camo or drab olive/brown will do.

How interesting, Esseff. I didn't know that about bright clothing, but on reflection, birds have very keen sight, don't they.
