Putting aside how great of a photo this is, I can't help look at this and wonder what sort of pathogens are being consumed from the warm and likely rotted meat.

Thanks!
I have no words to describe the smell of a small pond not seen in this picture that the hyena were using to bath and cool off after they were inside hippo

no they tend to be pure scavengers, they do hunt if needed though mostly for injured prey etc

You have some photos that put the viewer right on top of the action.  I have to ask, what the craziest thing you have seen while on one of visits?

Someone asked me a similar thing on another thread...

One of my first encounters was seeing a leopard up in a tree and two lions eagerly watching it from the base of the tree. Another time I was watching a large group of elephants wondering around then suddenly all hell broke loose. Turned out they had left a young one back in the bushes so major panic insued, as they called out and went running all over the place to find him. Then one time a young male that was quite far decided to charge the vehicle for no reason and followed us for a while. I think he actually had some mental issues and had been abandoned by the group for that reason. This is by far the craziest encounter with a cheetah family. I've met the mother a few times.
