On the fence about upgrading my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR to Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII

12 years 3 months ago #201801 by Alex
Anyone here have shot with both the VR and the VRII? Would you say making this upgrade worth the cost of the VRII? I'm sure I can sell my VR and I can't image I would be that far off the cost of the VRII, so out of pocket shouldn't be that bad. Just on the fence right now.

Thats a tuff one Alex. I dont know if the extra 1 stop compensation will be worth the extra cash. How is it now for you when shooting at 200mm? If you have noticable movement then the VR2 may be worth the extra pennies...

I've come across some user reviews that think the upgrade was more than worth it.
What you could do is have the new version shipped in to me, I'll test it and let you know if its any good......;)

Why so serious?

Haha, I second that. After your done with it send it my way. That way, when Alex sends me the vr1 I can do a side by side comparison. I'll send the best of the two back to you and keep the lesser one as payment for services rendered haha.

I seriously don't know why you think about these things. Just do it.

I have one and I like it. I usually shoot from a monopod since my arms aren't what they used to be. It focuses fast. I shoot high school football and baseball with it. I also use it for volleyball since I have the luxury of shooting from a gym balcony. I had the 80-200 2.8 Nikon before. It was a great lens but this was worth the upgrade.

Hows the sharpness difference? The 70-200 2.8 VRII is VERY sharp. Like "prime" sharp.
