Renting a D800E before buying?

12 years 1 month ago #210213 by Mike Ayrouth
I'm not sold on the D800E yet. Really I'd like to see the image quality and how handy that comes in. Do you think the rental companies will be getting inventory of these before the normal photography community?

I've checked a few and nothing is listed. Called up B&H and they told me mid April before they get.

I will bet you the first wave of deliveries is all sold. It will more than likely be a while before that camera is available for rent. Besides, many stores have the returns refurbished and those will often end up as rentals, so it won't be soon....

Why so serious?

Good idea, but would be surprised if they had them with in two months?

Just a word. Be sure you want the D800E and not the D800. There isn't all that much difference in sharpness from what I can see and the D800E seems to bring in more problems than it solves.

Good luck finding one to rent. It'll be pretty impossible for awhile.

:agree: just like the Canon 1DX will be tough to find also

I think it'd be more in line with the 5d III. The 1DX won't be as large of a market.

On large purchases, I always rent first. Camera bodies or lenses.

True, the 1DX would be like the D4 market
