Would you buy a Nikon D700 that was a demo camera?

I found a Nikon D700 that was used as a demo camera for $1,400. I'm currently using a D300 and tempted with this full frame camera for this price. Just not sure about it being a demo camera?

What do you think?

If you are getting the same warranty & it doesn't have many shutter actuations, I'd consider it...

I'm with Scott, low snap count, good condition I'd jump all over it...... ;)

Why so serious?

I also agree with the above people. As long as it has a warranty m and has a good shutter count, which means you can read it by image number. Then go for it.

If it was out for display, NO NO NO NO NO NO. People could have put their fingers on the sensor, things could be broken that you aren't aware of.

You can find a used one through KEH, or craigslist that will have a better chance than that.

I would say so... the shutter may not have been released a lot but how many people handled it, opened the back of the camera and slammed it shut umpteen times, took off the lens and poked around in the camera, let their kids play with it......

Brought the dog along and let it chew on it... OK I'm kidding but really unless it was kept under the counter where it may not have been handled much, I don't know that I'd trust it. Depends on where you saw it, maybe if it's at a reputable camera store, but think about what the store demos look like in an electronics or discount store.

I totally agree. BUT it depends on what "on display" means. If it were displayed in a glass cabinet and no one touched it. Then maybe it would be OK. If it were out where everyone can touch it (demo unit), then no way. I've seen demo units that are just in terrible condition. Some people just want to play with the camera and have totally no idea what they're doing.

Many of the"demo" units are sent back to be refurbed though...

I'm in only if it has low shutter count
