Why doesn't the Nikon D800 use 2 compact flash cards?

I was just looking at the specs, why did Nikon go with a SD and CF card slot on this camera? Considering the image size this camera makes, wouldn't it make sense to use faster memory cards? CF cards are faster aren't they?

I think it's size limitation to be honest.

Yeah the body size had much to do with it. In reality both cards are faster than the cameras buffer depending on what card you buy. Yes the CFs even though the two cards are rated at the same speed, those speeds are only relative to cards of their type, and not other types of storage media types. So either card can be more than adequate for their intended purpose.

They should have just used two SD cards. They're just as good these days and cheaper to boot. But that would upset old people who don't like change.
