Increasing D700 ISO to ISO 25,600?

So the camera shows 200 to 6400, but I've read that you can go as low as ISO 100 and as high as ISO 25,600. What I've not been able to find is how do you get the the ISO to 25,600? Would that be considered the H2.0?

Yes. H2.0 is 25,600

But on the High2 you get image degradation which will be noise. Also you get the same when going to Lo. For good clean ISO 25.6 the D3S is the one.

How do you get degradation when you go Lo? I can see on higher ISO settings, but lower ones?

It's not a native ISO.

Correct! Anything outside of the operating ISO is pushed and there is degradation. It is like the difference between Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom on a P&S. They are using software to push the sensor in a direction it wasnt really made for so the change is artifical. I only shoot in native ISOs because of that.

Good answers here, but since you have a D700, why not crank it and take some shots.
Its digital.....B)
