So much for the 50mm f/0.95 for Nikon Z6

I've been watching the development of lenses for the Z6 and when I heard about this lens, well I was excited.  Not about the $800 rumored price tag, but at the aspect of super fast aperture.  Well Kai got his hands on one and, well, I'll let the video review do the talking:

I guess that's the  Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 mk III lens? Can't understand half of what he says.

You want to wait for the real thing: the Nikon 58mm f/.095 NOCT. And save your pennies, since the rumored price point is actually $6000 US (from what I could quickly locate).

An alternative might be to look for the 58mm Nikkor Noct Ais f/1.2, a manual focus lens which can be used with an adapter. That would cost a bit more than half as much as the 0.95. And the lens is fantastic

It's funny how things change. Back when we only had film, the struggle was to get a good film with the least amount of grain but fast enough so we could increase our DOF. That was the trade off. Grain and color fidelity versus DOF or higher shutter speed. Now everything is reversed and people are struggling with getting the most razor thin DOF they can. It's pretty amusing.

Holy smokes, what do you all do for a living in order to afford such a lens??

First off, I would never buy a lens like that unless I have good reason to put it to work and have it pay for itself. I'd rent it when needed, instead.

Second, I get paid to do work, which funds my equipment. I have a day job that I live off of.

Third, I've only bought one lens new. Everything else has been used. There are lots of other folks out there with more money than sense, and I'm okay with them helping me out.

But that's just me.
