How much trouble is Nikon in?

3 years 3 months ago #706269 by Andy Gladwell
I don't my post to be considered any sort negative.  Just a Nikon fan concerned.  Lately I have hearing all sorts of not so good news on Nikon.  Lately I heard that they shut down manufacturing in Japan and now making just in Thailand.

Just having a 'real' talk.  How much trouble is Nikon in?

Difficult to answer without the annual report in hands.
If they really were in trouble, they would not have such
great plans… me think.

Yes, I have also come across such news that Nikon stops manufacturing cameras
in Japan and now making them in Thailand. Moreover, Nikon has been manufacturing cameras for about 70 years in Japan. I don't know why they are shifting to Thiland.

Likely a financial decision. Many outfits are outsourcing things to Southeast Asia countries due to cheaper labor costs...

Hard to say at this time, as Nikon Shooter said without checking their bottom-line annual report.
But the fact they are still producing cameras for me in Thailand is a money saver, which should help in their bottom-line. As you said, they have been producing cameras for many years and have a good market.

So after so many years of doing this or that and life itself getting in my way, I am now at the point where just slowing down and doing things I have put off I have concluded that its time to become creative and do what I want.
Thanks for giving me a place to get started. :-)

For the same reason Apple made its products in the same part of the world.

Wow, that is interesting.

Wonder how sales were in the UK that might have caused them to suspend orders.

It is not Nikon suspending orders to UK but…
Nikon U.K. — the importer— that is Suspending Orders as a Result of Brexit Changes.
