I am thinking of getting a tele-converter for my Nikon D90 but don’t know what to get, the Sigma 1.4 or Nikon 1.7? Any one use them and what do you think?

I'd go with the Nikon glass on your Nikon

Also agree. You don't mention what lens you will use it with, won't work on all. In my case, I use the 300f4 af-s with the 1.7 TC with fine results. Slows the lens down a bit, but in decent light its ok....;)

Why so serious?

effron made a good point as some lenses can't be used with any teleconverters. Make sure you do your homework before making a purchase on any photo gear. Your question here is a good step.

There is also the Kenko TCs for lenses that will not work with the Nikkor TCs. But you need to get the Pro models or else you will be wasting your money.

Here's a shock, I actually OWN the Nikon 1.7. :p

It's pretty well made and doesn't reduce the IQ enough to worry about. You can notice the difference of course, but it's not enough to make it not worth it. I use it on a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VRII though, so YMMV.

Like others said, make sure your lens can use it first.

K here's a sample

First the shot

Here's 100% crop. It's ISO 6400 so noise is slightly affecting the apparent sharpness:
