why grainy when transfered

10 years 3 months ago #3421 by mntbighker
I just bought a new lumix DMC-FS10, everything seems fine, except that when transferring the SD card to my laptop to play back video the footage is quite grainy. It seems good on the LCD monitor, I'm using a standard 2gb SD card. On my previous camera the FX10 the play back was brilliant. Is it possibly a camera fault or is the SD card incompatible?

The card should not be an issue unless it is defective. You may have the camera set to take low resolution jpegs. Check your manual and make sure your setting is for high resolution.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Under what conditions did you shoot the video? As with photos the lower the light the more grain you will tend to get. Also remember that the view on your computer is much much larger than the one on your camera, thus magnifying the grain. Try shooting some video under different conditions to see if you get different results.
