I usually like selective coloring but it doesn't work for me here. The green of the ball distracts my eye from the baby. However, the pose is perfect!! :judge:

Don't pi$$ me off, I am running out of room to store the bodies...

The pose is great! However, the colour pop works against this one.

Technically, it looks pretty good.

As for the rest of the photo: the lighting is also nice, and I like the simple background, although ideally there would have been a tree or something back there to break it up. You should have removed at least the brighter, if not both, of the leaves on the ground.

I think you've got the idea. The concept of picking a specific color and area is like everything else in art (and photography) - takes practice. Perhaps the green to a bit, well, too green.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thank you all and I do see what you mean. The color of his ball was too much and I will pay more attention to the background in the future. He is a great kid to photograph and since he is a friend's son, I take a lot of him.

I'm glad the technique is done correctly!

I appreciate the comments...they do help me learn!

Your technique is good, why not just back the green down to a paler green then clone out those leaves, let us see how it turns out.

Overall I think it would look better as a full color image. Could you post the color photo, so we could see?

The color version is really green since Zephyr had on green and the lawn was very green and the ball was green...so much green! It is attached...
