Hello everyone,
I'd like to know what you think of this photo. I think it could've been great, but I don't know what I should have done different. Please, let me know!
Thanks.

Looks like you are shooting into the sun or close to it. Perhaps a polarizing filter would cut the glare off the water a bit.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

The boat behind his head is a big distraction you needed to move left or right to lose it, always look to see whats behind someone before depressing that shutter, you could clone it out to end uo with a good shot.

The white balance looks a bit cool to me. Was there post processing done?

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like he's got a boat growing out of his head.

There was some post processing done actually, but I didn't change the white balance because what I really wanted to know regarding this photo is whether the boat behind his head is a drawback or not. The thing is that I really like the composition, and I think it could be a great shot - just, without the boat. :/
But thanks a lot for your feedback, always valuable!

You could 'move' the boat by moving yourself. Sometimes just taking a step or two can totally change your perspective and the composition of the image. Then the boat would be to one side of the subject and could work as part of the image.

Probably stepping a ways to the left (I think...trying to visualize this) would have gotten that boat to the left of the subject; and there's a part of a boat in the upper right that might have been completely in the photo. Then that would have eliminated some of the light bluish nothingness on the left. Changing your vantage point can help reframe your shot.

Great shot of the player, but the boat and the white background is bit disturbing for me. The white background takes precedence than the player. If you want the focus on the player, may be a crop would help?

Cheers,
Chaks
