I have found DIY softboxes and beauty dishes on this site. I was wondering what other DIY lighting equipment have you made for yourself?

My favorite speedlight mod is just a rectangle of white hobby foam as a bounce card. I cut them to the shape I need, and attach with velcro or rubber bands. Cheap and versatile. My Omnibounce and Fong Dome just rattle around in my lighting bag.

When I find myself in a limited light perdickerment I like to use what ever windows & mirrors are available. It helps to bounce back the available light & creates some awesome reflected images. Had I not used the mirror in the following pic I would not have been able to achieve a nice white background.

Very nice capture :judge:

I use a lens mounted diffuser for macro work:

I also have an idea bouncing around my head for a ring flash.

Sure, practice makes perfect but, unless you learn from your mistakes, you are only perfecting your ability to fail.
