Travelers insurance for camera gear?

I'm heading to Brazil in September and would like to get my gear covered. Will insurance companies cover my gear out of country? Or am I pretty much out of luck?

I would say yes. I think it would be the same thing if you traveled with your car...your insurance covers it no matter where you go.

Think about it this way, professional photographers travel all over the world to get the shot. I am sure they all have insurance on their equipment, that does cover anything that could happen. Smashing a lens against a rock, dropping the camera in a volcano.

I'm just visualizing that claims call "Yeah I dropped the camera in hot lava dripping from volcano"!

I have my gear covered under my homeowners, even when traveling. Best to check with whomever you are covered with now, see about international coverage.....;)
