Storm chasing photographers?

Anyone into chasing storms? I was just watching that show and that looks pretty exciting. Would be interested to know how to find groups who are into chasing storms. And are tag along's welcomed?

I like looking at the photos, but don't think I would like to be part of the storm

I wouldn't even know where to start, I have tried taking photos of lightning. But never seem to get any good shots. I want to say the gal here with those storm photos was saying something about tours you can go on for storm chasing??

In one year, I had the displeasure of being in a waterspout on the bay (in a 40+ ft boat), in a strong hurricane and having a tornado touch down in my yard. These were relatively rare occurrences in my area. They can be terrifying (the sound - most describe as like a freight train), the sight of the sidewards moving "green air" and the peril to your life.
Nature can snatch you away any time it wants so why go asking for it.
Like skydiving without a parachute and see how many times you survive before going "splat".
Not me, thanks.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I'll have to try to dig them out from the "film era" (2003).
The waterspout was "hang on for your life" and the tornado hit at 5:45 AM (nice wake-up call).

Yikes, scary situation you were in!

I love storms but am not sure about chasing them.

Don't pi$$ me off, I am running out of room to store the bodies...
