Old lens gems, that can be currently mounted?

Henry and MLK, this is all you. I'm looking for some old primes, MF or Auto...doesn't matter. Want stellar performance that doesn't break the bank.

Nikon's F mount goes back many years. I believe they all work on your D3 body.

Look on eBay for Nikon or NIkkor, and you'll find many. Since it was once THE camera to own, there are tons available.

One of the gems (as you put it) is the Nikkor 58mm f/1.2. Costs more used than it did new.

A 135mm and a 24mm are good tools too. And won't cost as much.

Just got the latest KEH catalog the other day, as it says on the cover - 'Everything Old is New Again'. Don't know the Nikon line but they have a slew of F manual lenses listed.

I'm honestly looking to invest in some primes that are MF for not a lot of money. I've known about the 58 and how legendary it is, but...3 grand starting price isn't cheap.

Scotty, you only need one. I doubt you'll ever need to upgrade it.

Seriously, for the price of the 58mm lens, you can probably get a nice set of primes, from 20mm to 200mm or so. S'what I own.

A real sleeper that will be cheap, if you find one, is the 135mm f/2.0. Very sharp, great contrast, super portrait lens.
One of the sharpest is the 35mmf/1.4, a great walk-around lens for both DX and FX sensors.
Not cheap, but more resonable than the Noct is the 15mm f/3.5, incredible center line flatness and contrast.

Isn't the 35 1/f.4 a brand new lens?
