Skill > glass > body.

Personally I upgrade lenses more than bodies. I consider glass as an investment so getting the best glass you can afford is the way to go. The upper end glass holds its value over the less expensive or the third party glass. Bodies now come and go and dont hold the same value, unless of course it has low shutter counts and is pretty much like new. My bodies never qualify for that.

Thing is the better the body you get the better the glass you need because the body will be able to resolve more and will demand better glass to get the most out of it.

So it's sorta both.

Good glass will last a lot longer though.

... then you need a faster computer to edit the larger RAW files, and more RAM, and more storage space, and...

Big drives are now affordable. Pro grade monitors are still a luxury for some folk. Though I think a case could be made that a top monitor could improve results with either a cheap body or cheap lens?

Let's say the question was lens or body

Matthew said, 'take a course' - prefereably his..!

Icepics said, Learning & improving your skills

Scotty
said, skills - glass - body

I'm shooting on consumer gear right now (time away and back into it). I do everty course, read every book, come on here and ask, post, answer.

The general opinion is that the 'skills' are more important than the gear, which I totally agree with.
