My viewfinder is a tad dirty. Is it ok to take a q-tip to clean it? if not, what should I use?

You mean the viewing lens? At the back? If so, yes you can.

If its just the piece that you put to your eye then yes, clean it with a q tip or a soft cloth. If its the mirror assembly that you're meaning, then no, stay away from it.
